Take a Ride on the Wild Side

February 9, 2019 | Outdoor Activities

Leavenworth is one of the premier snowmobile locations in the country, with an average of 150 inches of snowfall per year and 150+ miles of trails to explore in the breathtaking Cascade Mountains. On a snowmobile, you can ride to remote destinations where wheeled vehicles can’t go, which means you can enjoy nature’s winter wonderland without a crowd.

If you’ve never been snowmobiling before, start with a guided tour, where you’ll learn what to do and get comfortable in the driver’s seat. If you’ve been a time or two, you may want to rent a sled and take off on your own.

Here are some local outfitters who can set you up:

  • Leavenworth Snowmobile Tours: There’s a guided tour for all levels. Try Suzy’s Slip and Slide (1 hour trip for first-timers), Mile-High Extravaganza (a 46-mile ride to Sugarloaf Lookout), or Starlight Express (night riding under the stars). Experienced riders may rent snowmobiles and go on their own. Located at Mountain Springs Lodge, 14 miles north of Leavenworth.
  • Leavenworth Snowmobile Rentals: Enjoy access to 200 miles of groomed trails near Lake Wenatchee, 15 miles west of Leavenworth. Explore on your own, or take a personal guide, who can lead you to the best views and provide expert assistance if needed.
  • CJ Rentals: Rent a snowmobile and discover all that Fish Lake has to offer. Explore miles of trail systems and amazing mountain scenery. Located at Fish Lake, 22 miles north of Leavenworth.
